Even though the Warriors – Cavaliers matchup is tighter than expected, the Golden State Warriors remain the favorites to win the NBA title.
On one side, there’s the reigning MVP Stephen Curry leading the Warriors and on the other side, there’s four-time MVP LeBron James, who returned home to Cleveland on a mission to bring a championship to a city that’s been without one for 50 years.
Currently major sportsbooks keep Golden State as favorite by a difference of 6 points in Game 1. Despite the fact, that most sportsbooks in Las Vegas had the Cavaliers as long shots before LeBron James agreed to join the team last summer and odds were adjusted quickly.
The Warriors have lost only three games all year at Oracle Arena. Six points is the least the Warriors have been favored by in a Game 1 of their home games in 2014-15. Golden State has been favored by double-digits in most of these postseason games.
Oddsmakers in Las Vegas has the Warriors -250 to win the series, while the Cavs are +210 and believe Stephen Curry is taking this year’s MVP trophy home.
Curry, the league’s MVP, had an average of 29.2 points on 46 percent shooting, including 43 percent from three-point range to go with 6.4 assists, 4.9 rebounds and 1.9 steals in 15 playoff games.
Meanwhile, two-time NBA champion LeBron James, is averaging 27.6 points on 42 percent shooting, including 17 percent from three-point range to go with 10.4 rebounds, 8.3 assists, 1.3 blocks and 1.8 steals.
We will have to sit back and wait to see who is going to win the battle and become this season’s MVP and lead their team to the title.
